Dear Family and Friends of Christ Presbyterian Church,
It’s with a sad yet supportive heart that I write to announce that Derrick Harris has accepted a new pastoral call to Southwood Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, Alabama. As pastor of shepherding and young families, Derrick will assume several responsibilities including adult care and shepherding, overseeing the staff for children and young families, and assisting the senior pastor regularly with liturgy, preaching, and teaching. Southwood, a sister church to CPC, will benefit greatly from the gifts and spiritual maturity that Derrick has to offer.
Derrick joined CPC four years ago during a season of transition in our youth ministry. Since that time, his leadership and love for Jesus has attracted a strong team that contributes beautifully to the mission and vision of our church.
It is with full support and a sense of loss that we wish to release Derrick, AC, and John Paul for this new adventure in their lives. Derrick will work through August 27 then take a few weeks of vacation before reporting to Southwood on September 16.
As part of this transition, I’m happy to announce Casey Cramer will expand his role to become pastor over children, youth and families. In this expanded role, Casey will be entrusted with leading and shepherding our student ministries and families including nursery, and grades Pre-K - 12.
Reporting to Casey will be youth directors Babs Murray (sr. high girls) and Kyle Banks (sr. high boys), Marissa Jewell (jr. high girls) and TBA (jr. high boys - interviews in process), children's Director Mallory Hammond (who will take on more of the day-to-day responsibilities for children's ministry and staff), and a new position reporting into Casey we are also announcing today -- full time director of special needs ministry, Gigi Sanders.
Please join us in thanking Derrick for his leadership to our youth and families, and in praying for his transition and new pastoral call.
Much love to you, our CPC family.
