Sunday Spotlight (January 19, 2012)

Dear CPC Community,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! (Philippians 1:2) This week, our Sunday Spotlight shines on January 15 and January 22, taking a look back at last weekend and a look ahead to what we believe God has in store for this Sunday. See you in the Sanctuary!

Blessings in Him,
Your CPC Office of Communications

**SERMON NOTE** For those who will be unable to attend Worship this Sunday, the sermon by the Rev. Scott Sauls, our candidate for Senior Pastor, will be available to watch online afterward beginning at approximately 1 p.m. Sunday. Please visit our home page, www.christpres.org, and look for the link to the video.

A Look Ahead To Sunday, January 22:

We look forward to a special time of worshiping the Lord together. Our service will include an assembly song featuring Gordon Mote; congregational praise; the infant baptism of Ella Rose Lampley, daughter of Troy and Sandy Lampley; and a sermon preached by the Rev. Scott Sauls, "The 13th Day of Christmas," with Ephesians 2:1-10 as the main Scriptural text. Leading up to the service, we are all encouraged to read that passage and to meditate on the lyrics of some of our planned music by clicking on the video links below.

"A New Hallelujah"

"Come Ye Sinners Poor and Needy" (Song of Response)

A Look Back To Sunday, January 15:

Our Worship service included several connections to CPC's new Small Groups study based on Dr. Philip Graham Ryken's book, King Solomon: The Temptations of Money, S-x and Power. (To learn more about the book and the study, visit THIS PAGE.) Our sermon, "The Wisdom of the Sword", taught by Pastor David Filson, drew upon the powerful story of Solomon and the two prostitutes in 1 Kings 3:1-28. Please see several photos and captions from last Sunday below.
