A Congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America

Sunday Spotlight -- December 3, 2011

Dear CPC Community,

As we move to the second Sunday of Advent, we shine the spotlight
on December 4 and November 27, taking a look back at last weekend and a look ahead to what we believe God has in store for tomorrow. See you in the Sanctuary!

**Note: Remember our Christmas Gift concert at 7 p.m. next Sunday, Dec. 11! It's free and open to the community—a perfect opportunity to invite your friends and neighbors. (CDs will be available as well.) For more details, click HERE.

Blessings in Christ,
Your CPC Office of Communications

A Look Ahead To Sunday, December 4:
We have another special treat with a visit and message delivered by Dr. Bryan Chapell, president and professor of practical theology at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. Dr. Chapell will preach a sermon titled "Tinsel for Twigs", rooted in Jeremiah 33:14-16. (We will continue our series The Songs Of Christmas next week.) Our second Advent reading will be from Isaiah 7:10-14 and Matthew 2:1-2. We will celebrate the Sacrament of Communion together as well. Leading up to the service, we are all encouraged to read the scriptures above and to meditate on the lyrics of our planned worship songs by clicking on the video links:

"Angels We Have Heard On High"

"Angels From the Realms of Glory"

"Here I Am To Worship"

A Look Back to Sunday, November 27:
The first Sunday of Advent was a rich time together in the presence of the Lord. We began a teaching series titled The Songs of Christmas with the message, "We Have An Announcement To Make!" Our time of praise ushered us into God's presence and started this wonderful season off right. We celebrated the infant baptisms of Elizabeth Brown (Bebe) Jennings, daughter of Ty and Jessica Jennings; and Addye Ruth Terrell, daughter of Glen and Ellie Terrell.
