Boy Scouts:  Troop 55

Troop 55 has been a ministry of CPC for 28 years. Our mission is to give young men the opportunity to learn and practice leadership and service through outdoor activity and adventure. We try to act as another tool for parents to use in raising their sons and we hope, ultimately, that God uses our efforts to grow these boys into the men that He wants them to become.

We have troop meetings every Monday night at the Scout Barn which include instruction in skills such as first aid, navigation through map/compass/gps/stars, wilderness survival, knots and lashing, camping, backpacking and climbing/rappeling. Over the course of several years, we help the boys to work through the six ranks in the boy scout program to eventually become an Eagle Scout if it is their desire. We challenge them and give them opportunities to serve their community so that they learn the gifts of hard work and selflessness. We have guests speak on the subjects of leadership, service, manhood, nature or varying professions.

We have an outdoor camping or backpacking trip one weekend every month and three week-long camping opportunities every summer.
