Christ Presbyterian Academy is a parochial school, a ministry of Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Nashville, Tennessee. It is committed to the education of the children of Christ Presbyterian Church, as well as, space permitting, the children of other professing Christians. This education is based upon the Holy Scriptures, which are the inspired and inerrant Word of God. The Academy seeks to provide a curriculum that reflects the variety of needs of all its children.
While the Academy believes that the responsibility for educating and nurturing a child rests with the parents, it also recognizes the need for the church and the school to work together with the family to provide a world and life view based on the Holy Scriptures. The school is not to take the place of the home or church but is committed to help both fulfill their Christian responsibilities.
God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – reveals Himself in His world and in His Word. Without Him, life is meaningless, and education is misdirected. Education is the total process of coming to know the truth of God, applying that truth to all of life, and evaluating all of life by that truth. Therefore, true education has God alone at its center.
The Academy recognizes and affirms that every person has been created in the image of God with a unique identity. Living out this belief includes helping each child to grow by providing experiences which will educate the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical areas of his or her life. The goal of the Academy is that its students will come to know Jesus Christ, even as they are being trained for productive living in contemporary society.
Statement of Purpose
To assist Christian families in helping students come to know God, evaluate all knowledge and all life by His truth, and live lives transformed by His truth for His glory.
Statement of Faith
The Constitution of Christ Presbyterian Academy states that our school is committed to the education of the children of Christ Presbyterian Church as well as, space permitting, the children of other professing Christians. Our admissions policy further states that at least one parent of each student must be a professing Christian. While we come from diverse spiritual backgrounds, our desire is to be unified around the most important element of the faith – the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. The following presents the spiritual tenets of our school:
• We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
• We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
• We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
• We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential and that this salvation is received through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and not as a result of good works.
• We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and to perform good works.
• We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
• We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our World Life View
We believe that parents have primary responsibility for educating and nurturing their children. At the same time, Christ Presbyterian Academy recognizes the triangular "partnership" of home, church and school all working together in the inculcation of a Biblical world and life view in the lives of its students. The Academy does not seek to supplant home and church, but rather to complement these two institutions in the fulfillment of their God-ordained roles. Applying these principles means educating the whole child. This is accomplished by providing a setting which promotes growth in the spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical spheres of the child's life. CPA seeks to bring the child to God through Christ, and fosters subsequent growth in that relationship. At the same time, the Academy endeavors to give each child the tools for living a productive life in contemporary society.
