Boys HS Basketball Philosophy

Drew Maddux — Basketball Coaching Philosophy

Our Basketball Program at CPA is built on the Vision that our coaches and players will be “Christ –Centered; Others-Focused”- basically stating, that we will be built on the solid foundation of our Lord and Savior and will seek to elevate others around continuously. The Purpose statement of our program is to Play Together, Play Hard, Play Smart, and ultimately to have Fun! You will never hear me speak about or focus on winning because I believe if we execute on our Vision and Purpose Statement and continue to focus on the experience, we will be successful and our student-athletes will have a positive experience.

Core Values:
Christ-centered - Champion’s Foundation
Love - God, each other, the Game
Commitment - What if this team had my attitude, how good would we be? On Time, Every Time!
Passion - 3 E’s
Believe - unquestioned trust in Coaches and each other
Quality - Classroom first!

Scott Oatsvall — Basketball Coaching Philosophy
The success or failure of any organization rises or falls on leadership. This can be directly related to the pursuit of its philosophy. I want everyone to know and understand our philosophy so that we may find success together.
First, it is my belief that the student athletes at CPA should gain a Christ centered education. My desire is to have a program and ultimately student athletes that honor and glorify the Lord on and off the court. Our attitudes as coaches, players and fans should be brought under control so that we can accomplish this goal. (I Corinthians 10:31)
Secondly, we want student athletes who are motivated and will give 100% effort in all things and not be satisfied with mediocrity.. not for self recognition but for the Lord.
(Colossians 3:23)
In addition, we have a desire to create a sense of excitement and loyalty to our basketball program and our school. When people see us compete, they should want to become CPA basketball fans. (I Corinthians 16:18)
Finally, it is my goal that each player learn life mastery skills from a Christian perspective that will enable them to give their best in every area of life. (Joshua 1:8)
