Over the last five years the varsity basketball team has experienced five winning seasons in a row with an overall record of 101-54 (.652) during that span. This period was highlighted by the 2003-04 team’s record breaking year of firsts. It was CPA’s second sweet 16 appearance during this period, but a school record of 30 wins also produced first “evers” which included a district regular season championship, a regional championship, a sectional championship, and a state tournament final four. At last count there were 31 team records set during the 2003-04 season. The 2004-05 team with eight seniors and three of its five starters returning, led CPA to its second straight district regular season championship by duplicating another 9-1 district record, its second straight regional championship and its third Sweet Sixteen appearance in the last five years.
