A Congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America

Elder Shepherds

Christ Presbyterian Church follows the presbyterian form of government:

Our elected officers are responsible for ruling over the ministries and operations of the church. Participate by nominating those men of God you feel most closely meet the qualifications as stated in (see below) I Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, I Thess. 5:12-13 and I Peter 5:1-3:

We believe that a man is called by God to serve the Church as an officer in administrative responsibilities as a Deacon.  Each officer serves on one or more committee within a Ministry Team to administer or supervise all operations, property, finances, and ministries of the Church.

“If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task…
(he) must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife,
temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, ...”
(I Timothy 3:1-2, read 3:3-12)

“An elder must be blameless ... an overseer is entrusted with God’s work, ... not overbearing, not quick tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. ...one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. ... hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”
(Titus 1:6-9)

“...respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.”
(I Thessalonians 5:12-13)

“So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of
the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going
to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.” (I Peter 5:1-3 )
