A Congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America

Beliefs

Christ Presbyterian Church believes the Gospel, the Good News that God has done everything necessary to bring us into a relationship with Him.

The Good News tells us that the power of God’s kingdom has entered history in order to renew us and the world. Believing this fact and relying on Jesus’ goodness rather than our own for our relationship to God releases the power of God’s Kingdom to work in and through us. The Gospel is more than just the way to enter God’s Kingdom; it is also the way to address every problem that we encounter and the way to progress in personal growth and freedom. CPC wants to help both believers and non-believers examine the claims of the Gospel and its application to our lives.

Changed Lives

Belief in the Gospel changes people from the inside out. In Christ we are given a radically changed identity. We are set free from both self-righteousness and self-condemnation. We are no longer driven to justify our existence by either living up to others’ expectations or even our own achievements.

When our identity is in Jesus Christ, the things that used to drive us—and by which we measured our significance—cease to have power over our lives. Instead of condemning others for not sharing our beliefs, our values or our goals, the Gospel makes it possible for us to welcome and respect them. The Gospel enables us to truly love others.

Renewal in All of Life

We believe in the power of the Gospel touching every cultural aspect of our lives. We challenge our people to love others in the name of Christ in their neighborhoods, in their professional lives, in their recreational activies, and in their schools. We want all of our actions to serve as testimonies to the power of Jesus to change lives radically.
