Middle School: Stacy Ross (301-3521)
High School: Sallie Wallace (301-3551)

CPA HANDBOOK: There is new information in your CPA handbook regarding medications in school, conditions requiring exclusion from school, who to call when your child is ill, what to do when you leave town, etc. Please read through and make yourselves familiar with this information.

ALLERGIES: The Clinic does not stock allergy or cold medicines. You must give those at home! Many students (and faculty) struggle with severe allergy symptoms. The air is just full of pollen and irritants. Please give your children these medications at home if they are congested, coughing, sneezing, etc. If you are uncertain of what to give your child, please call your pediatrician or allergist.

AFTER AN INJURY OR SURGERY: When making a decision about when to send your child back to school, it is usually best to wait until they are able to tolerate an active day without prescription pain medications. Generally, these medications have unpleasant side-effects, such as nausea, dizziness, inability to concentrate, and lethargy. Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you have questions about this.

DISMISSAL FROM SCHOOL DUE TO ILLNESS OR INJURY: No student will be dismissed from school due to illness or injury without being evaluated by the school nurse. A written pass from the nurse is required before the student can sign out with the school secretary. Students are not permitted to use their cell phones to call or text-message a parent to come and pick them up from school without first being evaluated by the nurse. No student will be permitted to leave campus until a parent (or substitute guardian) has been notified.

MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL: Please review the CPA medication policies carefully. Call the school nurse if you have any questions or concerns.

2) RE: INHALERS AND EPI-PENS:  If your child has asthma and carries an inhaler to school (even if only sometimes) OR if your child carries an Epi-pen for severe allergic reactions, you need to file an authorization form (download above left links), in the clinic if you haven’t already done so.  Please call Mrs. Baldwin at 301-3517, or stop by the clinic during school hours.  OR--you can download the form(s) from the Nurse's Notes link from this web-site, and follow the instructions carefully.

3) THE NEW 2009/10 HANDBOOK has a LOT of clinic information regarding medications, illness/injury reporting, when to keep your child home, and what to do if you are going out of town. Please read these pages carefully and refer to them often!

The school nurse is Mrs. Andrea Baldwin who is a licensed, registered nurse, with more than 30 years of pediatric hospital and camp nursing experience. She is is available for the general health care of our students at school and qualified to assess and treat minor illnesses or injuries that occur during the day. If a student needs to be sent home from school due to illness or injury, she will contact a parent or guardian to make arrangements for dismissal. The clinic is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
